Welcome to Aliviado! We are so excited to have you here with us. Over a decade ago, I began working in house calls, helping persons with dementia and their caregivers to obtain relief from the extraordinary burden placed on both due to the symptoms of dementia. Based on these experiences, I began to work with home health and hospice agencies, nursing homes, hospitals, and outpatient providers to improve the quality of care provided to these vulnerable patients and their caregivers. That leads us to today, a long road leading to the unveiling of Aliviado.

Aliviado means relief in Portuguese.

Our vision is that all persons with dementia and their caregivers will receive high-quality, evidence-based care the relieves the symptoms of dementia.

The programs of Aliviado were built around the idea that persons with dementia, caregivers, and clinicians all need relief from the symptoms that occur from this set of uncurable diseases. We currently fail this population by providing ineffective care. While there is a significant body of evidence on how to care for persons with dementia in the academic literature, it has not been fully operationalized for use at the point of care. This is where Aliviado steps in. At the organization level Aliviado is there to help provide both the training and resources necessary for providing dementia friendly care. I hope many of you will engage with us at Aliviado to help your organization meet the needs for this patient population. It would be our honor to serve you and your organization in this way, as we work towards our vision.
